During the summer of 2015, Rodmell Parish Council received an invitation from the Council of Le Bourg-Dun to consider a twinning arrangement. The village is a small rural community of about 500 inhabitants in Normandy, about 20 kms from Dieppe and 3kms from the coast.
Various discussions took place at which it was decided that any such arrangement would be run informally with no committees, minutes or expenditure, on the basis that both sides were really just looking for an annual weekend exchange (eg: here one year, France the next). Two weekend visits have so far happened, one to us and one to them, and though nothing is currently planned we expect that more may follow in due course. What Brexit may do to all this is, of course, anybody’s guess!
