Anne Roberts, our WI President, writes:

"British women and the Kindertransport rescue" – Sybil Oldfield

At the first meeting of the New Year, members and visitors heard a very interesting and moving account of the part played by British women in getting Jewish children out of Nazi Germany. The speaker, Sybil Oldfield, has done a great deal of research into the kindertransport rescue operation, and has interviewed some of those who were helped to escape. The talk ended with the reading of some powerful poems written by one of those who came to Britain in those dreadful circumstances.

The next meeting is on February 16th. The talk, at 8.0pm, is given by Dudley Charlton. It is entitled “What Our Grandparents Used & We Threw Away”. Visitors welcome.
