Knitting Group Meeting
14th Sep 2010
The next Knitting Group meeting is planned for Tuesday 14 September in the Village Hall, 7-9pm.
Future meetings are planned for the second Tuesday in the month.
Tuesday 13th July will be the last knitting group for the summer as I think the general feeilng was at the last meeting we would have a break until September/October. At our last meeting we discussed knitting chldren's hats for India, and Kim has a pattern. Mike Bray from the village could take any donations out for us.
For information and patterns for these children's warm hats, see Notice Board
Our Knitting Group met on Wednesday 9th December, 7-9pm, at 'Tambline House' Rodmell.
Lesley very kindly offered to have the get-together at her house, and Julie Draper from High Weald Fibre Factory showed us the microwave dyeing method of wools. The Fibre Factory is the place in Uckfield that sells the Alpaca yarns amongst other things - and Julie will bring some of their stall for sale on the night for those that are interested. For more information about the Fibre Factory on their website: www.fibrefactory.co.uk
As this will be our pre-Christmas meeting, we thought we would all bring along some nibbles - so, if you could let Sophie (on 589735 / 0797 006 3829 and email) know what you intend to bring, it saves us doubling up on things!
Just a reminder the Rodmell school Xmas fair is on 28 November so if you are interested in making anything to put on the craft stall it would be most appreciated, a baby hat was suggested.
Thank you to all of you who sent a hat (or two!) to the Rodmell Christmas fair it was much appreciated.
Also we are continuing to make squares for MacMillan Cancer and will count up in the New Year.
This is a very friendly and relaxed group, with a demonstration of a wool-related craft each month.
There is a £2 charge per person for each meeting of the Knitting Group.

At our meeting in November we had a 'felt demonstration' by Ali Rabjohns from Rodmell.
At our meeting in October, Linda Dartnell from the village did a very informative demo on spinning - with an opportunity for others to try out the wheel, which is much harder than it looks! She used local fleece from a farm, and went through the stages up to the actual spinning.
Linda also mentioned the Textiles in Sussex event by the East Sussex Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers which has demos and exhibitions around Sussex.
At our meeting in September, it was agreed that we would all do a square for the Macmillan Comfort Blanket campaign.
Each square needs to measure 20cm x 20cm (8in x 8in), and a blanket takes 40 squares.
We decided to keep to pastel colours. If prefered, just do a plain or moss-stitch square. If you feel adventurous, "Designer" patterns are available for the squares and can be downloaded from the Macmillan website www.macmillan.org.uk - in their 'Get Involved' section.
