1st Rodmell & Northease Cub Scout Pack

25th Feb 2010

For information about upcoming activities, see Diary & Events.

Our very active group is expanding and we want to start up a Scout Group for children of 11yrs and older - contact Bob Foster (480749) or Jake Barlow (487508) to find out more. Any girls and boys who are coming up to 8yrs old can join the Cubs - contact Bob or Jake.
We also need some more leaders to help out on a regular basis with both Cubs and Scouts - we meet on Thursday evenings, and the main qualification is enthusiasm! Again, contact Bob Foster or Jake Barlow for more information.

Cubs Investiture

The 1st Rodmell & Northease Cubs continue to meet and have a good time each Thursday evening in the School Hall. Currently there are 17 Cubs and most have now been 'invested' and are officially recognised as Cubs - with their new red and white scarves and toggles!

At our very first meeting, on Thursday 12 November ...

We had a great time - there were 14 girls and boys, and lots of games and getting to know each other. Kim Mercer had produced a beautifully decorated sponge cake - with "1st Rodmell & Northease Cub Scouts" iced round the edge and a Scout motif in the centre - which was greatly enjoyed by all.

As it was the first meeting for our new Cub Scout Pack, we welcomed a visit from Liz Metcalfe (Lewes Scout District Commissioner) and Diana Hope (Lewes District Secretary) who oversaw the investiture of Jake Barlow (Arkela), Chris Day (Baloo), and Richard Mercer (Basheba).

Kim Mercer reports on fundraising activities in November 2009:
The Curry Night & Quiz was a great success and was well attended. Spencer Prosser did a very good music quiz, and a total of £145 was donated to 1st Rodmell & Northease Cubs.

20 October 2009:

The Scout Association has now approved and registered our new village cub scout pack, called 1st Rodmell & Northease Cub Scout Group.

Our new pack will be run by Bob Foster, with Jake Barlow, Chris Day, Richard Mercer and others.

The Cub group, for boys and girls aged 8-11 years, will have its first meeting on Thursday 12th November, 6.30pm – 8.00pm, in Rodmell School.

Once the Cubs are up and running, the Scout group for older children will start. Both groups will run weekly on the same evening with plenty of activities, challenges to be tackled, and badges to be won.

This is a great opportunity for children in Rodmell, Northease, and the surrounding area to get to know each other, and to take part in adventurous and creative activities with trained adult supervision.

Anyone interested in joining or helping - please contact:
