Churches serving the Ouse Valley
St Peter Rodmell is part of the United Benefice of Iford, Kingston, Rodmell and Southease - here is some information about our activities.
We seek:
- to show by our worship and living the love of God for all people
- to explore in an open way what faith in God means for all
- to follow Jesus by caring for people in our community and in the whole human family.
We have three ancient churches, which are open daily.
| Iford | St Nicholas | 11th century |
| Kingston | St Pancras | 12th century |
| Rodmell | St Peter | 12th century |
| Southease | St Peter | (to follow) |
Since 1976 the three parishes have been united with one Rector. Each church has its own Parochial Church Council (PCC) to decide on local issues. There are regular meetings of people from each church to enable us to serve God together.
WORSHIP
We worship on Sundays at the following times:
Iford - 11am (1st Sunday), 6pm (2nd Sunday), 8am (3rd Sunday)
Kingston - 9.45am every week, and 8am (1st Sunday only)
Rodmell - 11.00am every week
On weekdays we pray Morning and Evening Prayers.
ACTIVITIES
We have a variety of activities going on:
- Study Group
- Women’s Fellowship
- Sunday Clubs (for children up to 11yrs old)
- Choir
- Bell ringing
- Social Events (Concerts, Suppers etc.)
A monthly Parish Magazine keeps us informed about what is going on in our three villages - copies are available in all our churches.
SCHOOLS
We have close links with our two Church Schools:
- Iford & Kingston CE (Controlled) – with 150 children
- Rodmell CE (Aided) – with 65 children
MISSION
We support together two very different projects:
- Malawi Association for Christian Support (MACS) providing support for local health and education projects in Malawi
- St Patrick's, Hove – we support this church in its work with the homeless
PRAYER is at the heart of everything we do, either praying together or on our own. In each church there are:
- Prayer cards – which may guide your thoughts
- Prayer booklets – for your requests.
