The Abergavenny Arms

Abergavenny Arms pub reopened on Thursday 26 November 2009

Great news that our pub has reopened - see About Rodmell for all the details.

31 December 2008:
Right on the main road, The Abergavenny Arms used to play an important role at the centre of the village. But, very sadly, on 31 December 2008 the pub was closed - to find out more, see About Rodmell.

Not only did our pub serve food and drink to walkers and passers-by, but it also provided a community focus. The village pantomime, for example, took place here for four years - see the Photo Gallery for pictures of these excellent productions.

The Abergavenny Arms was known as 'The Holly' and 'The Bell' before reverting to its current name although, confusingly, this was also how it was known before it was 'The Holly'. One of the inn's former keepers (James Randall) is referred to in a will dated 1690.
